Trail description

This circular trail allows hikers to discover the ethnographic heritage of the hamlets of Ruigómez and Erjos. The landscape is full of traces of the region's significant agricultural history, which was the basis for the municipality's economy. There are a number of threshing fields along the way; a clear sign of how important cereal was in these lands. You will start on Calle Don Antonio Dorta Curbela towards the outskirts of the hamlet. Once you have passed Casas de la Cuna, one of the oldest properties in this area, veer left towards the chapel of San José, which was built in this isolated spot in the 18th century. Carry on northbound from there along the old Camino de Los Llanos pathway to the El Guirre track, which leads to the hamlet of Ruigómez. Now head southwest along Avenida Oriente and take care when crossing the Camino de la Encrucijada road that leads to the Las Tronqueras track, bordering with the municipality of Los Silos. On your way up to Erjos, you can indulge in the stunning panoramic views. The track then merges with Calle La Unión, which leads you to the chapel of Erjos. The funny thing about this street is that it is the borderline between two municipalities, with Los Silos on the right-hand pavement and El Tanque on the left. Cross the road at the zebra crossing to end your walk in Plaza de Erjos.
